The primary purpose of MissionsURC.org is to communicate information regarding missionaries, short-term missions, and work project opportunities related to the United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA).

Moving Forward in Church Planting

Rev. Shane Lems' lecture from the last Classis Michigan Missions Committee Fall Missions Rally, Home Missions: Moving Forward in Church Planting, is now available for download (MP3) on our Missions Rally MP3s section.

This is worthwhile and challenging listening, no matter who you are or what classis (or denomination) you're in. Consider burning it to CDs and given them out as gifts as well!

Contact Page Update

The Contact page now has an Email field so that we can actually answer your question personally if you asked one. As for the question that was asked, no, we haven't received updates from the Langendoens in Honduras. But if somebody has such an update for any URC mission work, or even contact information of individuals who do keep up with our missionaries, there is a Contact page and you can submit it to us!

The Classis Michigan Missions Committee will, of course, review submissions before they are posted.

Rev. Pennings Finishes Doctor of Ministry Degree!

Rev. Pennings writes:

"It is with thanksgiving to God that I am able to announce that I received notification from the Academic Dean of MINTS that I have completed my requirements for the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree through MINTS. The degree requires the writing of five MINTS courses of about 100 pages each. One was published formally as a book, another is set for publication this year. I have been accepted into the Ph.D. program which will be a 2-3 year project. Lord willing a graduation ceremony will be taking place on June 10 at Covenant Reformed Church of Toronto through the MINTS-Toronto Study Centre. I will be graduating with other students of mine who will be receiving Bachelors and Masters Degree in Theology and another D.Min. student."

Hispanic Christian Ministry News

Please pray for Rev. Pennings' meetings in Miami with other staff of MINTS and with the Joint Venture Committee.

Rev. Pennings had a ministry trip scheduled for Nicaragua from January 7-20. About 50 new students registered in two new study centres in an area just south of Managua. He planned on teaching the book of Nehemiah at both centres as well as being the keynote speaker at a church leaders' conference in Managua. He also hoped that the Lord would open the door for an invitation to preach in the prison on Friday, Jan 14.

Apologies for the late notice! Rev. Pennings will probably update us on the Nicaragua trip soon, so stay tuned and stay in prayer. -Steve
