Two notices today of import:

Rev. Pennings sends news on his ministry.

Also, there will be a special Classis Michigan missions rally on Thursday, July 23, at 7 pm at Trinity URC in Caledonia, Michigan. The featured speaker will be Mr. Nick Lamme who has been called by Trinity to assist Rev. Bill Green in Costa Rica. Learn more about the latest missionary sent from a church in our classis, and hear about the work in Costa Rica. An ice cream social will follow the rally.

HCM Mid-trip Update

Rev. Eric Pennings writes the following:

HCM Prayer Supporters:

As I write this I'm at the mid-way point of the current ministry trip. Here in Nicaragua I was able to make a number of new contacts and visit with three MINTS Centres. Unfortunately I was not able to get into the prison as planned because they were not allowing foreigners to visit because of concerns about the H1N1 virus. From May 27 to June 3 I am in Honduras. There I will be visiting four MINTS Centres and Rev. Langendoen's (a URCNA missionary) church. Thank the Lord for His blessings so far and please pray for the remainder of the trip.

[Edit: June 31 was corrected to June 3]

More updates

Following closely on our most recent updates are new letters from the Hispanic Christian Ministry and the Philippine Mission. Praise God for their work, and remember them in your prayers.

News!!

After quite a hiatus, you might enjoy perusing the following new items from the URC's Trumpet and Mission Trinidad's McGee Magazine (especially the Special Edition!).

Urgent Prayer Request from Rev. Langendoen

Please pray for the family of Rev. José Arias, pastor of the Christian Reformed Church of San José de la Vega in Honduras, director of the John Calvin Seminary (the original MINTS Centre in Honduras), professor for MINTS throughout Central America and MINTS-Honduras Country Coordinator. I received a phone call early this morning that he was involved in a traffic accident late last night [date not certain - Ed.] and died as a result of it. Rev. Arias was one of my key youth leaders whom I had the privilege of mentoring and training while living in Honduras in 1982. He and I have had maintained contact for the past 27 years. He served the Lord as a gifted, effective and exemplary pastor, evangelist and professor through the years. He leaves behind a wife (Norma) and family. Please pray for God’s grace and comfort for his family and his church during this time.

An update on the Langendoen's ministry is also available.

Missions Rally Recording Available

The recording of the Fall 2008 Classis Michigan Missions Rally featuring Rev. Murphy (New York City mission) is on our new Missions Rally MP3s page!
