A Ministry of Covenant Reformed Church of Toronto in Partnership with
Faith United Reformed Church of West Olive, Michigan
Dear HCM Supporters:
I wrote about a month ago about the plans the Lord has made for José Jesús Ramírez and his family to move from Toronto to El Salvador to serve as the MINTS-El Salvador Country Coordinator. It is with grateful thanks that I am able to report to you how the Lord is using the mission seminary model of training church leaders through Miami International Seminary (MINTS) to extend the impact of training leaders into the “next generation” of church leaders. José Jesús graduated from MINTS-Toronto with his Masters of Theology degree and I had the privilege of mentoring him during the last several years of his degree program, (including several one-on-one courses) and to watch him blossom in his gifts in ministry. It is a humbling experience for me to be used of the Lord in this endeavour.
On January 28 of this year he moved to El Salvador and began his ministry of developing church leaders in his home country. The two reports I have attached here provide a report of his first month of ministry as well as a ministry trip to Guatemala that he did on my behalf in teaching at two MINTS Centres and helping to start a new one. What a joy it is to see “discipleship in action” as this is just one example of many others in the development of church leaders through MINTS in over 50 countries around the world. Church leaders like José Jesús are being trained to proclaim the gospel and are training others to do the same.
Please thank the Lord for His direction in raising leaders who have a vision to train others in this “chain of discipleship”. José and his family are trusting the Lord to provide $15,000 per year for their salary and ministry expenses in order to be able to continue to serve the Lord full time. His ministry budget is being raised as a separate budget item under my own personal ministry budget through Hispanic Christian Ministry as it is being supervised and coordinated through Covenant Reformed Church of Toronto, Ontario and Faith United Reformed Church of West Olive, Michigan.
This is a “pilot program” of the extension of my ministry in each of the Central American countries I am serving in and traveling to. Profesor Ramírez is trusting the Lord to provide a monthly income for salary and ministry expenses of $1,250 per month from churches and individuals. Upon reading these first ministry reports, if you are interested in helping to support this wonderful mission endeavour as a church or as an individual, preferably with a monthly commitment, or with a one-time donation, please contact me so we can inform him of the missionary pledges coming in on his behalf.
Most importantly please pray for the Ramírez family and that the Lord may raise more church leaders like him to proclaim the gospel and extend His kingdom throughout the world.
Rev. Eric Pennings
