From Rev. Pennings… Family and Ministry Update
As we approach the end of the year Carla and I would like to wish our ministry supporters God’s peace with the message of the gift of His Son on Christmas Day and the Lord’s blessings for the New Year 2015.
The big family news this year is that we became grandparents for the first time. On September 9 Chloe was born to our daughter Angela and her husband Andrew. We are thankful that she is healthy and growing rapidly. Each year on the second Saturday of December we have our family Christmas gift-sharing activity. We traditionally exchange names but most of the gifts under the tree this year were for Chloe. I wonder why? We had a delightful time spending time together sharing the Christmas story together and having fun over brunch, bowling, “gift bingo”, an afternoon meal and games well into the evening hours. We are especially thankful for God’s blessing in being able to share the Christmas message from the heart in common as a family. My favourite part was holding Chloe in my arms and listening to her cooing and “talking” to Opa. Oma, of course, had more than her share of spoiling our new grand-daughter. Each of our children have been blessed this year. We truly are thankful for each of our family members. God has been good this year.
This year had a bit of a different “spin” on my ministry activities since the doctor grounded me from travelling in order to provide a more regular routine for the purpose of assessing my diabetes and some stomach issues I am dealing with. But thankfully the doctor has given me the green light to travel again, so in January I will begin my travel schedule with a trip to El Salvador to participate in the first of two regional conferences for the growing number of MINTS professors and leaders in Central America. I’m thankful for how the leaders are developing in Central America, and especially for two of the leaders who are serving as Associate Academic Deans. Jaime Morales of Costa Rica is directing the Spanish On-line ministry, and José Ramírez of El Salvador is serving as the Administrator for MINTS-Central America. As I transition into the position of International Academic Dean in March, 2015, both of these leaders will be taking on additional ministry responsibilities as well. More news on that in the new year.

From the HCM Treasurer … Financial Update
We are thankful for the ministry Rev. Pennings provides through MINTS as a missionary professor on behalf of the URCNA, our own congregation here in Toronto, but especially for the extension of God’s Kingdom in the fulfillment of the Great Commission. At our recent year-end meeting, we discussed the concern about our ministry as it pertains to the 2014 budget. The November 30 financial statement that I prepared shows that our expenses for 2014 have exceeded our income by $30,607.02 leaving us with a significant budget shortage.
We would ask that as individuals and as churches you would consider if the Lord would be leading you to provide an additional financial contribution to the ministry of Hispanic Christian Ministry to help us balance our budget by the end of the year.
As you have been blessed by the Lord in 2014, please consider how you might thank him through your giving.
