The Covenant Reformed Church in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area began in June of 2005. After a little more than 2 1/2 years they continue to experience God's blessings. They have grown from 7 to 16 families, from 35 to 80 souls. They continue to see this growth from young couples that desire to be instructed in the Reformed faith and worship God in a biblical way. Their goal is to plant as many small, but manageable, churches in the greater Lancaster area as possible. They have already identified the location of their second church and hope to plant it the Fall of 2010.

In March of 2007 they were approached about the possibility of sponsoring a church plant in the Washington DC area. Dr. Brian Lee, who had attended Westminster Seminary in California, and who had been part of Christ Reformed Church in Anaheim, CA, had relocated to the Washington area. He, and a few other men, began a Bible study in the Book of Romans, using the Heidelberg Catechism.

As they began to see the interest in the Reformed faith, and as the Bible study continued to grow, they approached Covenant Reformed URC in Lancaster about sponsorship. Rev. Arrick went to Washington and met with Dr. Lee and several of the other men who would be part of this new mission. A few months later, Dr. Lee began working toward ordination. The church first met for worship on November 4, 2007. Since that time they have averaged about 35 individuals worshiping. The congregation of Covenant Reformed extended a call to Dr. Lee to be a Minister of the Word and the Church Planter of the Washington church, now called Christ Reformed Church.

At the most recent meeting of Classis Eastern US, held Wednesday, January 16th,  2008, Dr. Brian Lee was examined as the last step toward his ordination as a Minister of the Word in the URCNA. We are thankful to God, and happy to report, that Dr. Lee did sustain his candidacy exam before the delegates of Classis Eastern US of the URCNA. His ordination will be scheduled for the near future.

Afterwards, Rev. Stephen M. Arrick, pastor of the sponsoring and calling church, said, "We are very grateful to God that He raised up Dr. Lee and a number of other men, and their families, who are committed to bringing the message and practice of the historic Reformed faith to the Washington area. Once Dr. Lee is ordained, and is able to devote his full time to the work, we believe that they will continue to develop and grow steadily."
